GPS is a wonderful invention. If you take a wrong turn, we get this alert to take a different road. If there is traffic, it lets you know that there is a better way to go. This is true in life as well. Your internal compass has led you down a painful dangerous path. Without assistance, and left to our own devices, we have a tendency to stay on this road, hoping that you come out on the other side, only to realize that you keep getting further off course. One could make the argument that it is our ego and stubbornness that have kept you on that road. You have the power to pave new paths. You can allow others to provide guidance on your journey and build new paths to find your way back to a road that is worth traveling on. Today, I will take some time to reflect on the choices I have made that lead me down the path of destruction. I will also take time to embrace the new paths I am paving to benefit from the fruits of my recovery labor.. I have spent a lot of time walking down a rocky and treacherous path. Today, I will take comfort in the path that I am building that leads towards the smooth road of a less stressful and more happy life worth living.
