“Every Morning I Wake Up Saying “I’m Still Alive, A Miracle.” And So I Keep On Pushing.”

– Jim Carrey

Im Alive

For many, the fact that you are alive today is a miracle. We often abuse the miracle of today with thoughts that if I survived this long, I’ll probably survive another day. Others live their lives like they don’t care whether they live or die, and the miracle of today is lost on them. When you embrace the miracle of today, it can provide the energy to keep on pushing. The more you push away from alcohol and drug use, the better you can expect to feel, which in turn gives us more energy to keep on pushing. Recovery is a process. Some days are easier than others. Some days it requires us to push hard and through feelings that might seem like a minefield. Over time, without much fanfare, you will find that it requires much less effort and pushing. Today, I will count myself as lucky that I am alive. I will use my good fortune to push further away from my unhealthy lifestyle, and push towards a new life- one that is worthwhile. Today I have the power to live in change and growth.
