“Know what sparks the light in you. Then use that light to illuminate the world.”

Sparks

Think about how dim the light of hope was while I was engaged in the lifestyle of use. Think about how in many cases our light was so narrowly focused on using. Recovery offers us the ability to let that light expand. Sobriety offers us the opportunity to light a spark that illuminates so many different areas of life. In the rejuvenation of recovery, we can now have hopes for honest and meaningful relationships. We can see the light in working a job, and having money to pay for things that used to go to our drug of choice. We can use the spark created by recovery to have a positive impact on ourselves and the world around us. Today, I will keep my spark lit. I will use my light to brighten my world, and the world of others that I care about. Today, I will not allow my light to be dimmed by the stress and worry that comes with substance use. I will actively seek opportunities for gratitude.
