“The Only Impossible Journey is The One You Never Begin”

Nothing can be achieved without taking the first step towards a goal. Recovery is like the lottery and it is not. Like the lottery, you have to be in it to win it. Unlike the lottery, success in recovery doesn’t happen by chance. It can be likened to a toddler trying to take it’s first steps, then learning to walk and run. Early recovery can be so difficult at first. We have all the excuses built in why now is not the time to quit. But each day gets a little easier, until one day, we notice that we didn’t even think about a drink or drug. Today, I will have gratitude that I have started my journey. I will cherish the time that I’ve had free of the noise in my head telling me to drink or drug. I will have humble pride in the knowledge that I am doing things differently today, and am moving in a healthy direction.
