Suffering in early recovery is temporary. Each day gets easier. The suffering in addiction is endless. You have the capacity to break free of daily guilt, shame and the constants of having to get away with your use, or not breaking the law. What would it be like to wake up one day and know that you are free? Life as a champion can be as simple as a restoration of things you lost as a result of your use, that are restored as a result of your perseverance in recovery. Today, I will go through the struggle knowing that a better life is ahead of me. I will begin to live my life as a champion by not giving into urges cravings and temptations. I was willing to suffer for a long time in addiction, but today I will endure whatever comes my way, to make room for the better life that awaits.
