“When You Reach The End Of Your Rope, Tie A Knot In It, And Hang On!”

-Franklin D. Roosevelt

Knotted Rope

In recovery, we can have a day, or several days that try us. Thoughts of giving up and escaping can enter our heads. I’ve yet to run into the person who gave in, had one drink or drug and say “I’m glad I had that one, now I can go back to living life.” Many of you have tried that and found out how bad life actually got. I have heard people who have hung on, and share how they were glad they didn’t give in. Today, no matter how bad things may get- Hang on! Get support. Stay connected. When we don’t give in, we have the opportunity to feel good about the strength we showed, and are better prepared for the next time we are struggling, with the knowledge that we have done it before, and we can do it again.
