“Those Who Do Not Remember The Past Are Condemned To Repeat It.”

-George Santayana

Past Present and Future

The past is not a place we want to dwell. Spending too much time reflecting on our past experiences can be quite hurtful. But that doesn’t mean that we brush off our past and we get to simply create a clean slate. Our past can be useful. It can provide lessons of what not to do when it comes to our addiction. The past may also serve as a healthy reminder of where we don’t want to return. If we find ourselves longing for the past, then we may not be fully embracing what we have accomplished already. Today, I will remember my past without dwelling in it. I will use the past as a method to hold on to what I have today. I will not be defined by my past, but I will allow it to serve me to ensure that today is better than yesterday.
