Moving Forward

When I get better, so does the world. In turn, the world gets better when I get better. Take this simple example. If I get behind the wheel of a car under the influence, I not only put myself in danger, but everyone and everything around me are in unsuspecting danger. The moment I put down alcohol and other drugs, I have an immediate positive impact on myself and the world. We may never know each other, but my life is improved when you aren’t using substances. And it only gets better from there. Imagine the character defects that can improve in recovery. Have I been full of ego, argumentativeness, and pushing people away? As I continue to move forward in recovery, I feel better, and improve my life and the lives of those around me. Today, I will recognize my upward, healthier movement. I will allow myself to feel good about not feeling as bad. I will mark my progress, and use it to continue on a path of being healthier, feeling better, and improving the world through my actions.
