Personal Growth

In the rooms of 12-step programs, they say “don’t project” and “one day at a time.” But there is another saying from the Roman philosopher that “Luck is  what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” Your, tomorrow, your future depends on what you choose to do with today and everyday. If we take today for granted and engage in unsober behavior, we may be starting to push the rock downhill setting in motion what we may later call bad luck and a relapse. However, when we keep our sobriety in mind each day and give our recovery the time, effort and energy it requires, we put ourselves in a better position for a better tomorrow. Today, I will keep myself in preparation mode. I will remember that my sobriety is the most important thing, and that good things happen when I stay prepared for the eventuality that life is not perfect and can throw me a curve ball at any time. Today I will not be deterred, and will not let anything get in the way of personal growth.
