“The Future Belongs To Those Who Prepare For It.”

-Malcolm X

In the rooms of 12-step programs, they say “don’t project” and “one day at a time.” But there is another saying from a Roman philosopher: “Luck is  what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” Your tomorrow; your future depends on what you choose to do with today and everyday. If you take today for granted and engage in unsober behavior, you may be starting to push the rock downhill, setting in motion what you may later call “bad luck” and a relapse. However, when you keep your sobriety in mind each day and give your recovery the time, effort and energy it requires, you put yourself in a better position for a better tomorrow.

Today, I will keep myself in preparation mode. I will remember that my sobriety is the most important thing, and that good things happen when I stay prepared for the eventuality that life is not perfect. Today I will not be deterred, and will not let anything get in the way of personal growth.
