If you have ever been in a relationship that you wanted to get out of, you know how easy it can be to let go. But for many your relationship with your substance of choice is like being on the other end of a breakup. It can be difficult to let go. Everything reminds you of your drug of choice and the lifestyle associated with it. However, once we begin the process of letting go, really letting go, it becomes easier to embrace the new life that awaits you. Recovery can be like a new relationship. It can be beautiful, engaging, thought provoking. Today, I will ensure that I am taking the steps necessary to let go of my old ways to make room for new opportunities to open and fall in love with. Sobriety is the one plan we want to stick with that offers a lifetime of happiness.
