Are you a glass half empty type of person? You may be familiar with the saying “Every cloud has a silver lining”, but there are people who are “every silver lining has a cloud” type of people. These are the people for whom every thing that goes right, they are concerned about what negative things will follow. This type of thinking is poison to those seeking recovery. We invest our thoughts into negatives, and as a result, we minimize positives. Sustained success comes when we can celebrate our progress, not minimize it. Today, I will worry less about what may go wrong and allow myself to get excited for what may go right in recovery. I will work towards maintaining my enthusiasm for recovery with the knowledge that the more I work at sobriety, the more that will continue to go right.
