In addiction, we often make promises to ourselves that I’ll quit tomorrow, next week, next month, by the time I turn 30, 40 etc. When we continue to make these excuses we often reach the ultimate conclusion that now it’s too late. You have the power to change today. If you have already begun that journey, we can allow ourselves to take humble pride that we are engaged in the change. Today, I will recognize that recovery is a journey and not a destination. I will remind myself that while the letters may be the same, there is a major difference in thinking that “I’m possible”, versus thinking that I am “impossible.” I will find gratitude in knowing that I am on a worthwhile journey towards a new and better life. One that allows me to restore relationships, and find inner-peace.
