If you are sober today, you are making what you might have thought impossible at one time, now possible. When we talk about having a life beyond your wildest dreams possible in sobriety, we are talking about things like having meaningful jobs or relationships. We are talking about regaining self-respect and the respect of others. The time to start achieving these goals in life is now. The more we delay, the more we pay the price to our addiction. Addiction and recovery are both choices that we make. Today, I will reaffirm my choice to stay sober. I will commit to my sobriety and continue to do the work necessary to keep my recovery. I will not lament what I should have done yesterday, or years ago, but have gratitude for the work I have done to get me to where I am today. I may not be satisfied just yet, but I can derive satisfaction in knowing I am on the path to get me to where I hope to be.
