Running Away

Whether you believe in God as a higher power or not is irrelevant. When we make the decision to put down alcohol and drugs, we often find ourselves in a moment of weakness, and look to medicate the stress of today. If we allow ourselves to get through today without using, the notion of using often becomes silly in retrospect. Go through the stress and urges to return to use. Going backwards is a return to long-term misery. Don’t give up. Today, find gratitude for not giving in. Take pride in what you have accomplished to this point. Let it serve as a reminder that you can do this. Each day gets easier.
