Running Away

Whether you believe in God as a higher power or not is irrelevant. When you make the decision to put down alcohol and drugs, you may find yourself, in a moment of weakness, looking to medicate the stress of today. If you allow yourself to get through today without using, the idea of using may become silly in retrospect. You can make it through the stress and urges to return to use. Going backwards is a return to long-term misery. Don’t give up.

Today, find gratitude for not giving in. Take pride in what you have accomplished to this point. Let it serve as a reminder that you can do this. Each day gets easier.
